The Amor Platánico visit
The Amor Platánico visit takes you through a working banana farm in Tazacorte, La Palma, and lasts two and a half hours. It includes the explanation of how bananas are grown, the history and tradition of the banana on the island, a tasting of local produce and spots for photographs. €45 adults, €35 for Canary Islands residents, free up to age 3 and children from €20.
This is no stage set and no museum. It is a working banana farm, so what you see is the real crop, with its own rhythms and its own tasks.
We walk among the banana plants along a prepared, comfortable route. On the way we explain how a banana plant grows, how long it takes to fruit, why the Canary banana tastes different and how much work lies behind every bunch. You see a farm from the inside and, with it, the farming landscape around Tazacorte.
There is also time for what you cannot see at first glance. The history of the banana on the island, its curiosities and the traditions that have stayed with the families who live from it.
Afterwards we sit down to taste local produce, because understanding the banana also means tasting it. And there is no rush. There are corners meant for stopping, taking photographs and carrying away a memory, as well as the rest area surrounded by green. Children have their own space to make a handmade keepsake and take it home.
Groups are deliberately small, so you can ask, touch and taste. We give the explanation in Spanish and English, and if you speak another language you can follow the whole visit in yours through a QR code, German included.
It is an alternative to the usual excursions. Instead of seeing the island in passing, you get to know it from inside a working farm.

After the tasting we have a space where drinks are made on the spot, with island rum and island products first. You can enjoy them during the visit, with no rush.
Alcoholic drinks are served to over-18s only.
The selection depends on availability and on the season. If a product is not available, we replace it with another of equal or higher quality, always keeping the level of the experience.

During the visit you can buy a selection of local products from La Palma: wines, mojo sauce, honey, jams, bananas and banana preparations, among others.

Before you come
The route runs over soil and fallen leaves, so comfortable closed shoes are a good idea. In summer, a cap or hat and water. There is an adapted toilet and free parking right by the entrance.
If there are allergies or intolerances in the group, tell us when you book and we will adapt the tasting. And if anyone uses a wheelchair or has reduced mobility, message us beforehand: we will describe the terrain in detail and adapt the route.
