Guided tour of a banana farm in La Palma
The Amor Platánico visit takes you through a working banana farm in Tazacorte, La Palma, and lasts two and a half hours. It includes the explanation of how bananas are grown, the history and tradition of the banana on the island, a tasting of local produce and spots for photographs. €45 adults, €35 for Canary Islands residents, free up to age 3 and children from €20. This is no stage set and no museum. It is a working banana farm, so what you see is the real crop, with its own rhythms and its own tasks.
We walk among the banana plants along a prepared, comfortable route. On the way we explain how a banana plant grows, how long it takes to fruit, why the Canary banana tastes different and how much work lies behind every bunch. You see a farm from the inside and, with it, the farming landscape around Tazacorte.
There is also time for what you cannot see at first glance. The history of the banana on the island, its curiosities and the traditions that have stayed with the families who live from it.
Afterwards we sit down to taste local produce, because understanding the banana also means tasting it. And there is no rush. There are corners meant for stopping, taking photographs and carrying away a memory, as well as the rest area surrounded by green. Children have their own space to make a handmade keepsake and take it home.
Groups are deliberately small, so you can ask, touch and taste. We give the explanation in Spanish and English, and you can also do it in German or other languages, with a QR code.
It is an alternative to the usual excursions. Instead of seeing the island in passing, you get to know it from inside a working farm.

Before you come
The route runs over soil and fallen leaves, so comfortable closed shoes are a good idea. In summer, a cap or hat and water. There is an adapted toilet and free parking right by the entrance.
If there are allergies or intolerances in the group, tell us when you book and we will adapt the tasting. And if anyone uses a wheelchair or has reduced mobility, message us beforehand: we will describe the terrain in detail and adapt the route.

What happens if it rains?
Much of the route runs under the banana leaves, which give shelter. If the weather forced us to call off the visit, we offer you another date or a full refund, whichever you prefer.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. We deliberately keep groups small, so places run out. The booking page has the calendar with the days and times still free. You can book and pay right there.
Can we bring children? And a pushchair?
Yes. Under-4s go free and there is a children’s rate from there. They have their own space to make a handmade keepsake to take home. A pushchair is awkward: the ground is soil and fallen leaves, so a baby carrier works better.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
There is an adapted toilet and parking by the entrance, and the route is mostly flat, but the ground is soil and fallen leaves. Message us before booking: we will describe the terrain in detail and adapt the route.
Which languages is the visit in?
The explanation is given in Spanish and English. The visit can also be done in German or other languages, with a QR code.
Is there parking? Is it free?
Yes, there is free parking right by the entrance. The road up to the farm is fully surfaced.
